They Built The First Temple? If nothing else, Göbekli Tepe could be seen as not only as evidencing supportive interaction between various groups with probably a common religious belief, but also developing the organizational skills necessary for this kind ‘landscape management’. This same skill of landscape management during the still hunter period can explain the skills needed to adjust to changing circumstances the circular farm settlements like those seen in the case of Jericho starting around the same time, plus the first intentional major grain growing projects by 8000 BC.
The work on Göbekli came to an end in 8000 BC with in one of quarries located around 100 meters away, an unfinished 'T -shaped' pillar still connected to the bedrock that if removed, would be no less than 20 feet long and 50 tons in weight. By now had transformed in a farm culture with much less free time and much harder work on their hands leaving little time to continue to build further on Göbekli Tepe.
